The Florida Stockwhip is a type of cow whip that is loosely based on a design by the late Gordie Peer. I’ve named it the Florida Stockwhip due to its nature of use as a “Florida Cow Whip” thong that’s hooked to an “Australian Stockwhip” handle by a pair of keeper loops.
I charge $15 per braided foot for this type of whip. The braiding includes the overlay, and the plaited belly. I don’t charge for the handle.
It's built off of a 19 inch spring steel lined rattan handle. The thong itself is weighted, and tapered down to a dyneema bonded two strand twist. This design is built to easily leverage a powerful crack off horseback or on the ground. As a competition style whip maker, my goals revolve around creating a whip that cracks easily through complicated routines. For those familiar with the routine “Hassetts Four Corners,” it can be done with a 10ft Florida Stockwhip.
